Pendrell has, since 2014, invested in, acquired and monetized intellectual property (“IP”) rights. In 2017, the company divested the majority of its largest IP portfolio, known as the “Pendragon” portfolio, but continued to license the digital rights management (“DRM”) patents owned by its subsidiary ContentGuard Holdings, Inc. (“ContentGuard”), and the memory and storage patents owned by its subsidiary Memory Technologies LLC (“MTL”).
Pendrell was originally incorporated in 2000 as New ICO Global Communications (Holdings) Limited, a Delaware corporation. In July 2011, the company changed its name to Pendrell Corporation.
